1.0 PURPOSE:
To lay down the procedure for operation and cleaning of solvent transfer pump.
2.0 SCOPE:

4.0 RESPONSIBILITY:
4.1 Warehouse personnel are responsible for operation and cleaning of solvent transfer pump.
4.2 Warehouse-Head shall be responsible to ensure compliance of the SOP.
5.0 PROCEDURE:
5.1 Precautions:
5.1.1 Ensure the availability of spillage handling kit near the solvent dispensing.
5.1.2 If any incident happens during operation, incident shall be raised as per SOP.
5.1.3 Visually ensure that solvent transfer pump is cleaned and having “Cleaned” status label.
5.2 Operating Procedure:
5.2.1 Take the solvent container inside the solvent dispensing room from which solvent to be dispensed.
5.2.2 Open the solvent container lid.
5.2.3 Insert the SS rod of solvent pump into the solvent container, fix the upper portion of solvent transfer pump on the SS rod and tight it with the help of tighten bolt.
5.2.4 Connect the hose pipe to the outlet of solvent transfer pump.
5.2.5 Hold the hose pipe in the container where solvent is to be collected.
5.2.6 Move the handle of solvent transfer pump Up and Down direction to pump the solvent.
5.2.7 Transfer and collect the required quantity of solvent by pumping the solvent transfer pump.
5.2.8 In case, if excess quantity of solvent transferred through pump, then remove the excess quantity of solvent up to the required quantity as per request and transfer it to its original container.
5.2.9 Note: While operations ensure that solvent container and solvent transfer pump connected to the earthing points.
5.2.10 After completion of activity, dismantle the solvent transfer pump and remove the SS rod of solvent transfer pump from solvent container.
5.2.11 Close the lid of solvent container and transfer it to its original location.
5.2.12 Allow to dry the solvent transfer pump, if required wipe it with dry lint free cloth.
5.2.13 After operation update the status label of the solvent transfer pump as “To Be Cleaned”.
5.2.14 Record the operation activity in Annexure-I.
5.3 Cleaning Procedure:
5.3.1 Clean the outer surface of solvent transfer pump with lint free cloth.
5.3.2 Keep the cleaned solvent transfer pump in polybag and tie it and affix “Cleaned” label.
5.3.3 Cleaning Frequency: After Operation.
5.3.4 Note: If there is no operation for longer period clean the solvent transfer pump before use.
5.3.5 Record the cleaning activity in Annexure-I.
