Procedure for operation and cleaning of portable de-humidifier

1.0 PURPOSE:

To lay down the procedure for operation and cleaning of portable de-humidifier.

2.0 SCOPE:

This procedure for operation and cleaning of portable de-humidifier is applicable at (Company name).

3.0 DEFINITIONS:

De-humidification: Removing of moisture contained in the conditioned air supplying by air handling units to minimize the relative humidity by blowing the hot air in the room and recirculating same through air handling system to achieve the required environmental conditions in the area.

4.0 RESPONSIBILITY:

4.1 User personnel is responsible for operation and cleaning of portable de-humidifier.
4.2 Engineering head / QA head is responsible to ensure compliance of the SOP.

5.0 PROCEDURE:

5.1 General precautions: 
5.1.1 Ensue that equipment caster wheels are moving freely.
5.1.2 Ensure that pre-filter is in clean condition before starting the equipment.
5.1.3 Ensure that the equipment electrical cable and plug top connections are properly connected before use of the equipment.
5.1.4 Equipment shall be started before starting of the activity/process as per validated time.
5.1.5 Ensure that the water collection tank is empty before starting the equipment.
5.1.6 Ensure that man movement is minimal to maintain the required RH throughout the process.
5.1.7 Ensure that the door openings are minimal during the process.

5.2 Starting procedure of portable De-humidifier:
5.2.1 This is simple plug in operate equipment; connect the plug provided to the equipment in the power socket.
5.2.2 Switch ON the power supply and ensure that equipment has started without any abnormality.
5.2.3 Set the required RH in the RH controller and set the limits as operating manual.
5.2.4 Ensure that equipment is running and blowing hot air in the room to reduce the room RH.
5.2.5 Check the environmental conditions of the room and note down the parameters in the area log book as per routine practice.
5.2.6 Depending up on the room volume, the RH will reduce starting from 30 minutes to maximum 3 hours.
5.2.7 After reaching the required RH in the room, process activity shall be started.
5.2.8 Equipment will run in automatic mode and maintains the required RH in the area.
5.2.9 Ensure that the equipment having water collection tank, depending up on the area RH conditions moisture removal will be minimum or maximum. Water collection tank need to be emptied on regular intervals upon filling of the tank.
5.3 Stopping of portable De-humidifier:
5.3.1 Switch OFF power socket of the portable De-humidifier.
5.3.2 Disconnect the equipment cable connection from the power socket.
5.3.3 Check that the water collection tank has been emptied out.
5.3.4 Keep the equipment a side in the room or designated area.
5.4 Clean the portable de-humidifier externally with wet lint free cloth followed by dry lint free cloth before and after usage.
5.5 Record the ON/OFF and cleaning details in ‘Instrument/Equipment log’ as per Annexure-I.
