1.0 PURPOSE:
2.0 SCOPE:
3.0 DEFINITIONS:
4.0 RESPONSIBILITY:
5.0 PROCEDURE:
5.1 Air, water and noise monitoring shall be carried out by an external agency on monthly basis.
5.2 Identify the environmental conditions to be monitored.
5.3 Identify the areas, outside the building to be monitored and record for the environmental conditions.
5.4 Check for the calibration status of the equipment, which is used for monitoring of the environmental conditions.
5.5 Check for the Wind direction, before installation of the equipment.
5.6 Check for the positioning of the equipment.
5.7 Identify the out sourced party, which should be approved by Pollution Control Board for monitoring of the environmental conditions.
5.8 While collecting the effluent water, person should follow the personnel safety measure like wearing of hand gloves, goggles, nose mask, and safety shoes etc.
5.9 After collecting the effluent or ground water, the sample bottle should be properly closed and labeled.
5.10 During monitoring of environmental conditions, the quality of ambient air, the effluent, ground water and stack gas emission analysis need to be measured.
5.11 Ambient air quality:
5.11.1 Ambient air quality measurement has to be done in at least in three areas for the following parameters.
i. Particulate Matter Concentration (PM)
ii. Sulphur Dioxide
iii. Oxides of Nitrogen
5.11.2 The following parameters need to be measured for Stack gas emissions of Boiler and DG sets.
i. Stack diameter (m) and height
ii. Stack cross sectional area (sq. m)
iii. Flue gas temperature (°c)
iv. Exit velocity of flue gasses (m/sec)
v. Flow rate (cum/hr)
vi. Suspended particulate matter Concentration (mg/N m3)
vii. Sulphur dioxide Concentration (mg/N m3)
viii. Oxides of nitrogen Concentration (mg/N m3)
5.11.3 The following parameters to be measured for Effluent Water quality
i. pH
ii. Total dissolved Solids
iii. Total suspended Solids
iv. COD
v. BOD (3 days at 27°c)
vi. Oil & Grease
5.11.4 Procedure for measurement of ambient air quality:
5.11.4.1 Place the Air sampling unit at least three high rise locations in the factory.
5.11.4.2 Give the electric power supply to the Air sampling unit.
5.11.4.3 Measure the environmental air at least twenty-four hours.
5.11.4.4 Disconnect the power supply after completion of specified period.
5.11.4.5 The ambient air results shall be given by the out sourced party
5.11.4.6 The results should be complied vendor as per the standards of Pollution Control Board.
5.11.5 Procedure for measurement of effluent water quality:
5.11.5.1 The sample should be collected from the effluent sump in glass/PET bottle of minimum one liter capacity.
5.11.5.2 Ensure that no leakages are there in the sample-collected bottle.
5.11.5.3 Hand over the sample to out sourced party.
5.11.5.4 The results should comply with the standards of Pollution Control Board.
5.11.6 Procedure for measurement of noise:
5.11.6.1 Monitoring of the noise will be carried out at the five locations near periphery of the site, in day and night time.
