Operation and cleaning of magnetic stirrer with hot plate

1.0 PURPOSE:

To lay down a procedure for Operation and cleaning of Magnetic stirrer with Hot plate.

2.0 SCOPE:

This procedure for operation and cleaning of Magnetic stirrer with Hot plate is applicable for Quality Control department at (Company name).

3.0 DEFINITIONS:

Nil.

4.0 RESPONSIBILITY:

4.1 Quality control Chemist shall be responsible to Operation and cleaning of Magnetic stirrer with Hot plate.
4.2 Head — Quality Control or his designee to ensure compliance. 

5.0 PROCEDURE:

5.1 Cleaning Procedure:
5.1.1 Ensure that the power supply to the equipment is switched OFF before cleaning.
5.1.2 De-dust the equipment daily externally with a clean dry cloth.
5.1.3 Precaution has to be taken to clean the equipment immediately with dry cloth to remove the moisture.
5.2 Operating Instructions:
5.2.1 Ensure that the instrument is connected to the power supply.
5.2.2 Place the beaker containing the solution to be stirred/heated in the center of the top plate and immerse the Magnetic bit into the solution.
5.2.3 Set the desired speed control by using speed control regulator. Rotate the regulator clockwise directions until the lamp will glow.
5.2.4 Rotate the speed control regulator clockwise direction to increase the revolution of Magnetic bit and to Anti-clockwise direction to decrease the revolution of Magnetic bit.
5.2.5 After completion of stirring, reduce the speed to zero by rotating the speed control regulator in anti-clock-wise direction.
5.2.6 Rotate the Temperature control regulator clockwise direction to increase the temperature and to Anti-clockwise direction to decrease the temperature.
5.2.7 Set the required temperature by using the temperature control regulator.
5.2.8 After completion of sample heating rotate the temperature control regulator to anti-clockwise direction to Zero degree Celsius.
5.2.9 Switch OFF the Instrument when not in use.
