Procedure for operation and maintenance of public addressing system

1.0 PURPOSE:

To lay down procedure for operation and maintenance of public addressing system.

2.0 SCOPE:

This procedure for operation and maintenance of public addressing system SOP is applicable at (Company name).

3.0 DEFINITIONS:

Public address system (PA system) is an electronic sound amplification and distribution system with a microphone (normally termed as MIKE), amplifier and the speakers, used to allow a person to address a large public or persons stationed in different key working areas isolated from each other in office, for example, Production process areas, Warehouse areas; jacking areas, QC areas, QA areas and Engineering utility areas.

4.0 RESPONSIBILITY:

4.1 Technician / Supervisor of Engineering department is responsible to follow the procedure.
4.2 Engineering Head responsible for monitoring and implementation of this SOP.

5.0 PROCEDURE:

5.1 Preliminary checks:
5.1.1 Instrument/Equipment utilized: Microphone, speakers and amplifier for public addressing.
5.1.2 Check the Mike for proper functioning and the accessories of PA system
5.1.3 It found voice / volume less; booster amplifier of PA system will be adjusted to increase the voice / volume.
5.1.4 During testing Ceiling / Wall mounted speakers for PA system will intimate the working personnel process/isolated areas.
5.2 Functional Specification of PA system:
5.2.1 First switch ON amplifier and sub amplifier
5.2.2 Whenever we required to give any message/announcement to a single zone like OSD or Injectable or QA or QC there is an option like zone wise buttons in which we can select and give message.
5.2.3 After selecting zone or all zone button in mike panel board we have to hold talk button until and unless message/announcement completes.
5.2.4 In this public addressing system, there is facility of prerecord messages like whenever we require to announce related to FIRE or testing messages we can use those options.
5.2.5 After announcement/message completes just switch off the amplifier and sub amplifier
5.3 Maintenance:
5.3.1 Frequency to test the public addressing system is quarterly +15 days.
