1.0 PURPOSE:
2.0 SCOPE:
This procedure for personal protective equipment selection and usage is applicable for all employees of (Company name).
3.0 DEFINITIONS:
Personal Protective Equipment: All equipment and clothing which is intended to be worn or held by a person at work and which affords protection against one or more risks to health and safety. This includes clothing designed to protect against adverse weather conditions.
4.0 RESPONSIBILITY:
4.1 It is responsibility of all the Employees of (Company name) to follow the procedure for personal protective equipment selection and usage.
5.0 PROCEDURE:
5.1 While handling hazardous material, wear personal protective equipment like apron/suit, goggles or face shield, nose mask depending on the toxicity of the material handling.
5.2 While handling the welding works both the welder and helper are ensured to wear the welding shields or goggles and Leather hand glove.
5.3 Wear safety goggles while handling the cutting, grinding, drilling and chipping operations.
5.4 Wear Respirators/ face mask with cartridge, Self-contained Air Breathing apparatus (SCBA) and gloves while conducting the fumigation.
5.5 Use safety goggles/ Face shields and hand gloves while handling the acidic and alkali chemicals.
5.6 Aprons are used in controlled areas to avoid splashes or spillages of chemicals.
5.7 Use Gloves, safety glasses and nose mask while handling of chemicals, Toxins and biohazard materials.
5.8 Use helmet, hand gloves, safety goggles, apron, nose mask and gum shoes while crushing the discarded glass vials.
5.9 Use safety shoes with steel toe for protection from foot injuries during material handling.
5.10 Use Helmets and safety belts while working in heights, ceilings/pipeline and engineering operations.
5.11 Use Ear mulls and Ear plugs at high noise areas more than 80 dba (compressor area / D.G sets areas).
5.12 Use PPE for the respective part of the body to protect from various hazards as given below:
